Meet the USDA Field Office and SJCRCD Staff
Dave Simpson, District Conservationist, serves at the United
States Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service
(NRCS), Stockton Service Center. Dave has worked with the NRCS for more
than twenty-five years. He came to the Stockton Service Center in 1990
after working with the NRCS in Sacramento County. Dave holds a Bachelor's
of Science degree from Humboldt State University in Natural Resources
Management. Outside of the Stockton Service Center, Dave farms 25 acres
of wine-grapes in the Lodi area.

John
Brodie, Watershed Coordinator: John's interest in watershed issues
comes from his love of fishing. He is a founding member and one of the
first officers of the Ohio Smallmouth (bass) Alliance, an anglers' group
formed to address habitat conservation issues in Ohio. After several
years as a journalist, including a specialization in environmental reporting,
he became the first staff writer for The Nature Conservancy's Ohio Chapter.
John moved to California in 2000 when his wife Carol accepted a position
at the University of the Pacific. He is now learning how to fish for
anadromous species, and is enjoying working on water quality issues
from a watershed perspective. He is the author of the Mokelumne River
Watershed Owner's Manual.
